Chapter 16 : C16

I strained a smile, but my back was sweating and my forehead was pulsating. She was sticking out her upper body through the open guest suite door. Having recognized me, she opened her eyes wide. However, her surprise only lasted for a short moment. She soon returned to her usual expression and began to yell.

“What are you doing? Why are you empty-handed? I asked for champagne.”

“It… should’ve already been inside the suite.”

As if she were waiting for this moment, Abigail screamed, “Are you stupid? I asked for it because we needed more. So you didn’t bring it? Why are you even here if you don’t have my champagne?”

I belatedly realized that I misspoke, but my brain was all squishy and flabby like jelly. I couldn’t think at all. The best I could manage was to not stutter.

“I’m sorry. I will… bring it right away.”

I wanted to run away from here as quickly as possible. I quickly apologized and tried to leave, but she wasn’t about to let me go.

“Stop right there. Who told you to leave?”

Her sharp cry was unignorably loud. It would have been better if we were in a loud environment, but the hallway was much too silent and her voice reached so far that it left a lingering echo. I was left with no choice but to turn around, still covering my nose with my sleeve.

“Yes, Miss Abigail. Is there anything else you need?” I squeezed out a formal reply.

Instead of answering, she walked up to me. All she was wearing was a set of underwear covering her crucial parts and a nightgown thrown over her shoulders. Abigail approached me without hesitation like that much exposure was nothing. The sharp, hysteric clacks of her heels became closer and closer, hitting the floor regularly like the second hand of a clock. I stood frozen on the spot as I waited for her to come.

She stopped right before my eyes and looked down at me. She was quite tall to begin with and now that she was wearing heels, she seemed similar in height as Keith or just a little shorter. I had no choice but to look up at her. Abigail squinted her eyes as she stared me up and down.

“What were you thinking, coming up all the way here?”

“Thinking? What do you mean?”

“Don’t act innocent, you f*cking manwh*re.”

I was taken aback. I never imagined her to say such a word, much less direct it toward me. As I blinked in shock, she continued.

“You’re an omega, right? I saw you eyeing Keith all over earlier. What kind of disgusting hope did you have coming up here?”

She must have seen my face earlier. She seemed to have become wary of me knowing that I was an omega, but she was completely wrong. I wanted to tell her that it wasn’t the case. After all, Keith Knight Pittman would never see me as a sex partner, even if I were to die and be reborn. I wanted to correct Abigail’s misunderstanding, but I could barely breathe as it was. I couldn’t gather the words in my head properly.

“It must be a misunderstanding, Miss Abigail. I was just trying to check if the guests needed anything—”

“Hah!” She cut me off with a hysteric scoff. Abigail shot open her eyes and cursed, “At least make up a better excuse, you snake! You think I’m some dumb b*tch to fall for something like that? Screw your lies. Do you really think Keith would look at someone like you when he has me? Don’t even dream of it. Am I a joke to you? How dare you even—”

“What are you doing?”

A low voice cut through Abigail’s high-pitched rant. Abigail, who was screaming into my face like she was trying to punch me with her words, turned around. I saw Keith leaning on the doorframe of the open suite door. Abigail covered her mouth in surprise, and I blinked hazily as I stared at him.

His hair was still wet. He must have just come out of the shower. His dark locks glimmered under the light as a droplet of water slowly rolled down his cheek to his chin, dripping onto the floor in a straight line. His chest that I had been trying so hard to ignore was blatantly exposed between his loosely tied bathrobe. A pair of bright purple eyes disappeared under his long eyelashes before reappearing. I subconsciously gulped as I gazed at his solid, muscular chest and his neck, which was still dripping with water. He quickly caught onto my desperate gesture. Thankfully, of course, he could not read my thoughts.

“What are you doing, holding back my secretary?”

His voice was not that different from usual, but there was a hint of irritation beneath it. Abigail quickly defended herself.

“Hear me out, Keith. This man came here with an ulterior motive. Look, he’s empty-handed!”

“And?” Keith couldn’t seem to care less.
