Chapter 10
After confirming that I can use the Silver Ring of Appraisal to see my own stats, I decided to use the appraisal skill for various items.
I’m able to check my dad’s stats, who is snoring loudly next to me, and Mom, who is soundly sleeping as well.
It seems that The Silver Ring of Appraisal can use its Appraisal skill to various things and people, the only difference of it from the game is that it doesn’t show character’s anecdotes and other additional information that shows in the game.
But in the game, such information was only displayed for specific objects or characters, so it’s understandable that the Silver Ring of Appraisal wouldn’t show anything when I use it for items in a farmer’s house.
Come to think of it, I recall reading some comments of the game development staff displayed for that pair of earrings.
I take out the Sapphire Earrings out of my pocket and use the Appraisal skill on it.
Sapphire Earrings
Effect: EXP x5 for the wearer
It seems that unlike in the game, when using the Silver Ring of Appraisal, only a brief description of the item will be displayed.
I wonder what I should do with this silver ring.
I want to sell it, but I believe it’s quite a valuable item.
In the game, you don’t need to use the appraisal skill to see things like stats, item descriptions, or other information. They would just simply appear in the menu system. But in this world, you can only see your stats by paying a considerable amount of money at the church, and there’s no way to see item or equipment descriptions without this ring.
Appraisal skill wasn’t even a necessary skill in the game, people didn’t even know it existed.
However, in a world where people don’t know that this appraisal skill exist, this Silver Ring of Appraisal would likely become a highly rare item.
If I casually sell it to someone, it might raise some suspicions about its origin, and there’s a possibility that the church, which monopolizes the display of stats through divine revelations ritual similar to appraisal, will start keeping an eye on me.
The systems like stats, levels, and jobs exist in the game for the purpose of the main storyline, and to be honest, the church that handles them has a few mini-bosses along the storyline. Hmm, I should avoid getting involved with the church as best as I can.
For now, I’ll make sure the Silver Ring of Appraisal doesn’t attract any unwanted attention. It looks like just a dull silver ring at a glance, so I don’t think there’s a need to hide it, but just to be safe, I’ll hide it someplace where no one can find it.
I’ll also hide the Sapphire Earrings for the same reason. In the game, this was the only item when equipped gives you the effect of bonus exp points, so it would be troublesome if someone here knows it effect. Even though I say I will “hide” them, I mean I will just discreetly use it.
I love my dad, my mom, the farm, the village, and I am happy with my life, but there’s one thing I’m dissatisfied with, the food. We always have bread and vegetable soup for our meal.
I’m not saying it’s bad, it’s a simple and flavourful meal, but I really want to eat meat. I want my parents to have some meat too, I want to share it with the whole village.
In this world, people only can get meat from monsters. You can only obtain meat by hunting monsters, however most of the monsters that its meat can be eaten are ferocious and require a higher level to defeat.
Hunting monsters is mostly done by adventurers, but since this village doesn’t have an adventurers’ guild and doesn’t receive supplies from outside, the only option is to occasionally buy ridiculously expensive dried meat from traveling merchants who come to the village.
I heard that there is an adventurers’ guild in Northern town, but the adventurer’s guild there is quite small and only has a few adventurers. So, the amount of meat hunted is limited and most of it are sold in larger cities. The town itself only get a small portion of it, making its price go up ridiculously.
That’s why I want to increase my level and hunt monsters myself.
